Tematica:
The density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) method has
revolutionized the study of interacting systems in low-dimensions.
Invented in 1992 by Steve White, the method was very rapidly adapted
by the numerical many body methods groups around the globe. The
method, which started predominantly as an accurate ground state
technique for one-dimensional systems has now been extended to obtain
important excited states, finite temperature properties, frequency and
time dependent responses. The study has been extended to molecules as
well as to two-dimensional systems confined in one of the dimensions.
The method has been applied to Fermionic, Bosonic and mixed
Fermion-Boson systems.

Periodically there have been conferences and workshops dealing with
the developments in this field. This conference is one in this
sequence and is aimed at discussing the developments and future
directions in the field. The workshop is organized to help young
researchers foraying into the field with introductory lectures and
discussions with established practitioners in the field.
